Celebrate With Us!

Posted Jul 22, 2014

You are invited to the summer’s best party – the library’s annual Summer Celebration. Thursday July 24 from 6 – 8 p.m. the library will be the place to be for fantastic fun and some very sweet treats.  Join hundreds of your friends and neighbors for a Culvers’ sundae bar, the music of Frogwater, trolley rides, games, face painting, balloons, and more. This year’s special guests include the Admiral’s mascot Roscoe and Culvers’ Scoopie, as well as some four footed friends form the Sheriff's Department. We will also be treated to a sneak preview of the Recreation Department’s Drama Jr. summer musical Willy Wonka.

You may notice the day of the Summer Celebration has changed. For fifteen years, our big bash was held on Wednesday night. This year, it will be on Thursday so you can enjoy the Hubbard Park Concert series on Wednesday and party with us on Thursday.  This week, you get double the pleasure, double the fun.

A community celebration this spectacular takes planning and effort. We have a lot of help putting it all together. Huge thanks go out to the Friends of the Library who fund it all. We also want to thank our other partners – Culvers’ of Shorewood, Nehring’s Sendiks on Oakland, The Shorewood Woman’s Club for serving the staffing the sundae bar, Shorewood historian Sue Rebholz for narrating the trolley tours, the volunteer balloon artists and face painters, DPW for setup and clean up help, and the Teen Advisory Board volunteers for helping whenever and wherever needed. And, of course, we want to thank all of your for helping us celebrate summer the Shorewood Library way.  See you Thursday!
