In Mary's Garden

Posted Jun 26, 2015

Most of us have heard about the storied "Witch's House" - a.k.a. the gardens of Mary Nohl. Many of us have visited, or at least, driven by the legendary grounds. Now, we have a chance to learn the true story behind the controversial garden and the artist who created it.

Area natives Tina and Carson Kugler will be at the Shorewood Library this Wednesday July 1 at 3 p.m. to discuss their book, In Mary's Garden. Their engaging picture book gives us a glimpse into the childhood of Mary Nohl and how she came to create the unique artwork that stirs such passionate discussion.  It is a story that appeals to both children and adults. After the presentation, the Kuglers invite all to tap into their own creative streaks with a Nohl-inspired art activity.

Thanks to our partnership with Boswell Book Shop, books will be available for purchase and signing. The Library will also hold a drawing for a signed copy of In Mary's Garden.

Whether you are a lover of books, gardens, art, or local legends, you are sure to enjoy this special afternoon. Please join us and bring a friend.
