Meet the Author!

Posted May 2, 2014

Book lovers, art lovers, and educators – we have a treat for you! Acclaimed author/illustrator Michael Hall will talk about his newest book It’s an Orange Aardvaark this Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Library/Village Center.

Although it’s hot off the presses, the book is already getting rave reviews. Kirkus reviews gave it a starred review and said "Get ready for some hilarity and hijinks as five ants discover what's really outside their stump home in this die-cut offering from Hall...Hall uses the die-cuts to great effect, playfully piquing the curiosity of readers while revealing both the real and the ridiculous. Suspenseful and entertaining; all-around great fun."  School Library Journal compared his work to that of two blockbuster creators of children’s book – Eric Carle and Lois Ehlert. Hall’s earlier books include the popular Perfect Square, Cat Tale, and the New York Times Bestseller My Heart is Like a Zoo.

Thanks to our partnership with the awesome Boswell Book Company, books will be available for purchase and signing. You will also be able to enter the drawing to win a signed copy of one of his books. Refreshments will be served before the talk.

If the chance to meet a real author and artist isn’t excitement enough, we will have a craft program after the book talk and signing to give young readers and artists a chance to create art in Hall’s colorful collage style. Grown-ups are also encouraged to show off the artist within.

We look forward to seeing you at our book-tastic art-tastic event.
