Time for a Seuss-sational Saturday

Posted Feb 23, 2016

Mark your calendar - Saturday February 27, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. It’s time for our annual Seuss Celebration, celebrating the March 2 birthday of the iconic word wizard Dr. Seuss. Every year we honor the man and his work with a Seuss-ational event. We have all the right ingredients for an epic party – games, snacks, crafts, balloons, even Celebrity Readers. This year’s stars include WTMJ4 reporter, investigator and anchor Courtny Gerrish; long-time radio host and community actor Jane Matenaer;  those two funny guys actor film maker Matt Huebsch and actor, writer, director Doug Jarecki; and Milwaukee Admirals mascot Roscoe. Our all-star readings will begin at 10:30.

Why such a big bash? Generations of young readers have grown up with the memorable rhymes and quirky loveable characters created by Dr. Seuss from the naughty Cat in the Hat and cantankerous Grinch to the courageous Lorax and soft-hearted Horton. Dr. Seuss taught us to expand our minds, to have compassion and respect for others, and that reading and learning is a playful adventure. So in the spirit of Seuss. . .

Remember Saturday the 27th is the day

We will read and play the Dr. Seuss way.

Hear local stars read Dr. Seuss rhymes

And that’s just the start of the fun funny times.

Make a Seuss-tastical craft, get a “Catty” tattoo,

See some old friends like Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Play some stoo-mendus games if you wish,

Like Green Eggs Golf or Catch a Seuss fish.

Have a green snack and some pink yink ink drink

It doesn’t end there, if that’s what you think.

With all of this fun, there will be more surprises,

A few of our guests will even win prizes.

Best of all, it will cost you no money.

Just come and have good fun that is funny.

See you Saturday!
