Welcome 2015

Posted Jan 8, 2015

2015 has started off with a blast – of cold.  While the temperatures outside may be freezing, we are heating things up at the library. We will be offering plenty of hot (or cool – depending on your perspective) activities throughout 2015.

Our popular Preschool, Toddler, and Rhyme and Read Lapsit story times are back. Family favorites, like Special Saturdays and Family Fun Craft Night, will also continue. Other popular programs like Pop In & Play and Lego Club will be expanded to twice a month.  Of course, we will be recognizing Dr. Seuss’s birthday in style with our annual Seuss Celebration and Celebrity Read-In. You can also look forward to more events for school-aged kids.

While you may be dreaming of sunshine and warm beaches, we are dreaming up ideas for our summer library programs. This year’s super hero theme promises to be super fun.

You don’t have to wait for summer to get in on some reading action. The Buck’s Reading Challenge is underway. This year, kids in grades 1 – 8 can join the Reading Team. Kids score points for pages. All who score 500 or more pages by February 27 earn a ticket voucher to a Bucks’ home game. Those who score 750 pages or more are also entered into a drawing for special prizes.

Don’t think we are leaving grown-ups out in the cold. You can “Read Away Your Winter Blues” with our first ever adult winter reading program. Just read three books and review one to be entered in a drawing for special prizes. Shorewood Reads – 2nd edition – takes place April 11 - 16. Join your friends and neighbors in this community read of Nickolas Butler’s novel Shotgun Lovesongs.  Meet the author or sit in on one of the many discussion groups at the library, Collectivo, or Camp Bar.

For more information about what’s happening at the library, check out our Events Page.

Happy New Year!!!!
