E-books Evolving

Posted Nov 11, 2014

Our regular library e-book and CountyCat users may have already discovered this, but it bears talking about so the rest of you can jump on the bandwagon! You can now check out your e-books and e-audiobooks while you browse CountyCat.

Start with this instructional video from Kate, who wears two pretty cool hats: as a clerk here at Shorewood and the administrative assistant for Milwaukee County Federated Library System.

Save time by checking out or placing holds on e-books while you browse for all Milwaukee County library materials in CountyCat. Previously, you would have to jump from CountyCat to Wisconsin's Digital Library - adding a few steps as you switch tabs or windows in your browser, log into your account through the Digital Library, and check out or place a hold on the book you want. Now, your account in CountyCat shows you all the books you have checked out, whether you're reading them on paper or a screen.

Need more help? Stop by the info desk where we are happy to help you with all things e-reading (and paper book reading, too) from setting up a PIN for your library card so you can log in to your CountyCat and Digital Library accounts to setting up your iPad or Kindle so you can check out library e-books. All the instructions are also on our e-reading page.
