From the Friends: Seeking a Membership Coordinator

Posted Feb 24, 2021

The Friends of Shorewood Public Library need your help!

As a non-profit organization, our mission is to raise money to support our beloved Shorewood Public Library. In the last five years, we have raised $142,000.00, of which nearly $70,000.00 has come from generous Friends members. This money is used to support such programs as Reggie Jackson’s Do Black Lives Matter? series and the children’s and teens’ summer reading programs, as well as purchasing Wi-Fi hotspots and laptops for library patrons. The Friends also fund various collections in the library including Lucky Day books (pictured left) and DVD television series.

Here is how we could use your help: Our long-time Membership Coordinator, Susan Lofton, who has overseen the raising of so much money from member Friends, will be retiring in November 2021. We are looking for someone who would be willing to join the Board of Directors of the Friends of Shorewood Public Library and take over as Membership Coordinator.

To begin with, you would work closely with Susan to learn the system to process new member and renewal donations and other related tasks. This activity requires approximately two hours each week at the library on the designated Friends computer. A basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and email are important. We welcome someone with an attention to detail who is also a creative and flexible thinker and could evolve and streamline Susan’s system as you deem appropriate.

We are hoping to fill this volunteer position by July 1, 2021. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
