National Library Week

Posted Apr 15, 2015

April 12-18 is National Library Week. Explore the unlimited possibilities at Shorewood Library!

National Library Week is an annual observance, sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries nationwide. It's a week both to celebrate what libraries contribute to their communities, and to promote library use and support. It's no coincidence that Shorewood Reads falls this week - the Shorewood Reads planning committee thought it was the perfect week for a community get-together all about reading.

Through Shorewood Reads, we are hoping to create a new (hopefully annual) tradition in our Village: dedicating a week to enjoying cultural offerings centered around reading and sharing one book together.

Beyond Shorewood Reads, we at the Shorewood Library are dedicated to providing you a warm and welcoming place to gather, a treasure trove of information (from print to digital and more), educational and inspirational programming that allows you to meet neighbors and learn more about yourself, our community, our world.

If you're inspired to support us beyond using us (and using us - for books, computers, wifi, space to work, programming, etc. - is a TON of support already!) there are ways to get involved. Consider joining the Friends of Shorewood Library by making an annual monetary contribution. The Friends are always looking for new members to bring their opinions to bear on funding unique library programs and services. Teens can join the Teen Advisory Board and help plan and promote library services for our 12-18 year old Shorewood residents.
