We often get requests for "good" audiobooks. Why? Well if you've ever listened to a less-than-good audiobook, you'll know. No matter how well-written a book is, if it is poorly read it is not fun to listen to. With that in mind, a selection of good recent non-fiction audiobooks to put on your list for car trips or spring cleaning!
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
Narrated by the author, in his mellifluous British-accented voice, this book is a new look at old lore. Gaiman has often been inspired by folklore and mythology for his fiction, and here applies the eye of a novelist to the stories of Odin, Thor and Loki. Though the stories do employ some violence, this would be a fun listen as a family (probably ages 12+, depending on interest and experience).
The Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit by Michael Finkel
Be transported to the deep dark woods of Maine in this tale of a recluse who lived off theft, and didn't interact with a single soul (as far as is known) until his arrest after 27 years of solitude. A fascinating and well-narrated choice.
The Pigeon Tunnel: Stories From my Life by John LeCarre
The great spy novelist turns his lens on himself in this memoir, from his years in the Secret Service to his writing career spent grappling with the moral implications of intelligence gathering. Narrated by the author, with humor and depth of feeling, so you'll feel privy to some true intel.
