Fall = Fun @ Your Library

Posted Sep 3, 2015

School is back in session and we are brushing up on our math formulas. Here is an easy one -  Shorewood Library + Fall Events  = Fun.  This fall, we are back to basics with our popular traditional offerings like story times and craft programs. We’ve also added a few new events.

Story time season kicks off September 17 with the start of Preschool Story times for 3 & 4 year olds. Preschool sessions meet Thursday morning at 10 a.m..  Registration is on-going. Rhyme & Read Lapsits for 6 – 23 month and Toddler Time for 2 year olds will be held Mondays in November. Registration starts October 19. We make registration easy. You can do it online, over the phone, or in person.

Right now, November seems like a long way off so we will offer Pop In & Play sessions for kids, 6 months to 3 years, Monday mornings and evenings on September 21 & 28, and October 5 & 9.

There is also plenty of afterschool fun. Wednesday Art Cart will be held weekly from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.. Lego Club, for kids in first grade and up, moves back to Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.. We are a putting a little more fun in Fridays with Friday Fun craft programs on days when public schools are out. September 11 from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m., kids can experience Monster Madness by transforming a plain old tissue box into a crazy creature. October 16 it’s time for a Puppet Party. Kids can create a paper puppet or two and then put on a show. Friday Fun events are aimed at the school-age. Kids, 5 and younger are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Kids in grades 5 and up can pick up STEAM at our Tinker Lab.

Other family favorites like Tuesday Family Fun Craft Nights and Special Saturdays are also back. Of course, it wouldn’t be fall at the library without our annual Halloween Happening.

November will feature our first Bedtime Buddy Sleepover. As our friends in the wild get ready for their long winter’s nap, some cuddly critters will have a chance to celebrate sleepy season at the library.  Kids can bring a much-loved stuffed animal to a bedtime story hour, then leave them for some after-hours adventures before picking them up on Saturday. Registration is required.

If all of that isn’t enough to fill your time, check out our complete schedule of programs for kids, teens, and adults on our event calendar.
