Don't just sit there - learn something!

Posted Mar 2, 2016

The library has long been a place of learning - from books, to wifi, to computers, to online research tools, we've got what you need to learn for school, work or fun. Today we've added an exciting new tool to our kit: Gale Courses. We think you'll love it!

What is Gale Courses?

Gale Courses provides instructor-led six-week online courses on hundreds of subjects. From learning Microsoft Office products to help you land a new job, to learning Grant Writing to help your passion flourish, Gale Courses has something for everyone. The courses include academic learning, business tools, and also instruction on how to do things you've always wanted to do - just for your personal growth. Gale Courses is now available to all patrons in Milwaukee County, thanks to our awesome partnership with the other libraries in our system.

How does it work?

Click through to our Gale Courses landing page and browse the course options. Courses start every month, run for six weeks at a time and include 12 classes (two released per week). Courses are self-paced so once you register the materials are available to you even if you can't complete within the six weeks allotted. Important: every course starts with a two-week grace period, during which time you must activate your enrollment in the course by accessing lessons 1 and 2. You don't need to complete them during the two week period, but you must access them to remain enrolled in the course.

Gale Courses run on Ed2Go - an online learning platform. This means you have access to discussion boards, student technical support, and your instructor.

You can take as many courses as you want, as often as you'd like! The best part: it's free to you. Check out Gale Courses today from our GROW page.
