Eco Plastic Mosaics Workshop
Thursday, June 5
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Location: Shorewood Village Center
This creative workshop will open with a brief lecture on how to reduce plastic use. Stick around to create beautiful mosaics using plastic debris and natural items that have washed up on Atwater Beach! Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn how to make rope from plastic bags.
This workshop is a part of a series of events for Shorewood's new "Catch the Wave Shorewood – Reduce Single-Use Plastic" project, and is made possible in partnership with the Shorewood Waters Project.
Kae DonLevy manages the Shorewood Waters Project, which has been connecting residents and students to their local waterways since 2011. With a deep passion for all things water, Kae is dedicated to helping residents understand how fortunate we are to live in a water-rich region, bordered by the Great Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River. For over 14 years, the project has provided engaging and fun educational materials, workshops, and events, all aimed at inspiring stewardship of this precious resource.
Anna Coffaro, a Shorewood resident, is a graduate of Shorewood High School and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is an artist with studies in sustainability from Copenhagen and Hawaii. Working in multimedia, she is passionate about creating art from marine debris, using it as a tool to raise awareness about the impact of trash on aquatic life and to inspire action toward reducing the negative effects of waste.
