The Unexpected Terrible Beauty of Dali
Monday, February 2
6:00 pm
Location: Shorewood Village Center
Salvador Dali experimented with many divergent artistic styles, trying them on for fit. In this lecture from the Cornerstone History Symposium, we will see how surrealism allowed him to hold artistically fixed to the Freudian concept of dreams, where every image was potentially meaningful.
"Salvador Dali, in my opinion, strange as many of his works may appear, is the only painter of genius in our epoch, and the only one who will survive, a fanatic of his conviction, and the most faithful and most grateful disciple of your ideas among artists." - Stefan Zweig, when arranging a meeting with Sigmund Freud

Professor Karri L. Fritz-Klaus has worked within the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of African Art. She is a strong believer in the enrichment of our lives through exposure to the arts, history, and literature. In pursuit of those passions, Karri has been lecturing on various artists and artistic movements for several years, offering both symposiums as well as individual topics of interest. Like the culture of art, Karri's offerings are ever-growing.
