Whimsical Eco Plastic Art Workshop with Shorewood Waters Project

Tuesday, May 6

3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: Library Program Room

Let's create beautiful art from natural materials and plastic that has washed up on Atwater Beach!

Children will craft vibrant, colorful mosaics using cleaned plastic pieces collected from Atwater Beach. This hands-on workshop will offer the chance for kids to create whimsical art while learning about plastic waste, its harmful effects on our environment, wildlife, and human health, and how we can reduce plastic pollution in our waterways. These mosaics will be displayed at the museum.

This workshop is the first in a series of events for Shorewood's new "Catch the Wave Shorewood – Reduce Single-Use Plastic" project.

Event Details:

  • Introduction to the new "Catch the Wave Shorewood" project, focused on reducing single-use plastic in Shorewood.
  • Learn about the dangers of single-use plastic, its impact on our waterways, environment, and human health.
  • Create Space: Use plastic marine debris (litter) and natural materials from Shorewood to create colorful and meaningful mosaic art pieces.
