To celebrate America 250, Shorewood Public Library will host Chief Judge Pamela Pepper. Join us for a lively and interactive conversation about some of the grievances that led the Founders to declare their independence from the British crown. Chief Judge Pepper of the federal district court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin will join the conversation both as a participant and to listen to your thoughts about what fairness, justice, and the rule of law mean to you.

ABOUT CHIEF JUDGE PEPPER

Pamela Pepper is the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin which serves the 28 counties on the eastern side of Wisconsin from Florence County in the north to Kenosha County in the south. Judge Pepper graduated from Cornell Law School, and then clerked for Frank M. Johnson Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Montgomery.

She later served as a federal prosecutor in Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and also practiced as a defense attorney in private practice. The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit appointed her to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin where she served as a bankruptcy judge for more than nine years and as chief judge during the latter part of her tenure.

In 2014, Barack Obama appointed her to the district court. She became Chief Judge of the Eastern District of Wisconsin on November 1, 2019.
