The mission of the Friends, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is to provide financial and volunteer support to the Shorewood Public Library. As an advocate for the library, the Friends strives to ensure that it remains a vital and essential part of village life.

Friends Book Sale

Donate your gently used books and media to our in-library and eBay book sales.

Join, Renew, or Donate

Become a Friend or renew your membership today. Volunteer time, donate money, or both. We appreciate your support.

Your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Thank you for supporting our library.

What We Do:

  • Volunteer at the library through the Adopt-A-Shelf program and/or assist at major events.
  • Fund the library’s Lucky Day collection, BookPage subscription, and collections of travel books, foreign language fiction, and high-demand DVDs of popular television series.
  • Underwrite 57% of the library’s programming costs, including reading programs for children and adults, Shakespeare in Shorewood, Summer Celebration, visiting lecturers, and Shorewood Reads.
  • Support the library’s regionally renowned Early Literacy Center.
