Shorewood Reads 2022: Living with Urban Coyotes

Wednesday, March 30

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Shorewood Village Center

Coyotes are native to North America, and frequently dwell alongside humans in suburbs and cities, including the Village of Shorewood. Coyotes also play a figurative and literal role in Steven Wright’s Shorewood Reads 2022 title, The Coyotes of Carthage. In this presentation, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Biologist Jenna Fastner will take a closer look at the medium-size crafty and creative canines. Jenna will explore overall coyote biology and life history, living with urban coyotes, management techniques and options, and the differences between coyotes and wolves. Jenna will also answer questions following the presentation.

Jenna Fastner is a wildlife biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). She has a degree in Forest and Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has worked for WDNR for four years. Her specialties include customer service, outreach, and education.

This event is part of our Shorewood Reads 2022 programming. Shorewood Reads 2022 is co-sponsored by the Shorewood Public Library with support from the Lange Bequest, the Friends of the Shorewood Public Library, and Boswell Book Company.
