Masks at the Library with New CDC Guidance

Posted Jul 28, 2021

This week, the CDC and Wisconsin Department of Health Services  recommended that everyone, including vaccinated individuals, wear masks indoors in public in areas with substantial or high community spread of COVID-19.

Unfortunately, cases in Shorewood and Milwaukee County as a whole are on the rise once more, and Milwaukee County is now classified as having substantial community spread of COVID-19.

The Shorewood Public Library's administration and board are working closely with Village administration and the North Shore Health Department to determine the strongest way to move forward given this new recommendation. We anticipate issuing an updated Library COVID-19 Policy requiring masks to be worn in the library by everyone, regardless of vaccination status, as soon as Monday, August 2. As of now, anyone may wear a mask at the library but only unvaccinated people are required to do so. The Library Board meets via Zoom at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 31 to take action on the Library's COVID-19 Policy.

We continue to offer services to ensure that you can have your library needs met including curbside service for pick up of holds, take and make program kits, and remote library card sign up and renewal.
